Therefore, let us not cower in fear of al Shabaab. If my father did not fear them, neither should we.” He urged soldiers fighting against militants and bandits to pursue their mission relentlessly, emphasizing that this was his father’s wish.

“His greatest aspiration was to secure a peaceful Kenya. The recurring tragedies of innocent Kenyan lives lost deeply troubled him, and he was resolved to bring an end to this suffering. He often spoke of his determination to see this conflict through to its conclusion,” Omondi declared.

He emphasized that although his father had passed away, the responsibility to eradicate these threats remained. Addressing the militants directly, Omondi issued a stern warning, “The individual who relentlessly pursued you may have departed, but the battle is far from over. You must all carry on his legacy and ensure the safety of our nation. Strike the enemy with unwavering determination, placing your trust in God. They shall not prevail, and Kenya shall remain secure.”

Omondi also underscored the significance of honoring his father’s legacy by ensuring that the sacrifices made by those who lost their lives in conflicts, particularly in regions like Baringo, were not in vain. “Though he may no longer be with us, his directives and commands endure. When you embark on operations, obliterate the enemy without mercy. Deliver decisive blows and confirm their demise, as he would have wanted,” he asserted.

Reflecting on his father’s challenging moments, Omondi recalled the anguish General Ogolla experienced when soldiers under his command fell victim to militant attacks. General Ogolla was tragically among the ten officers who perished in a helicopter crash while on a peacekeeping mission in the Rift Valley region, plagued by unrest due to cattle rustling and banditry.

General Ogolla’s remains will be transported to Ng’iya village, Alego Usonga sub-county in Siaya, for burial on Sunday morning, where he will be laid to rest.

Following the tribute ceremony, Omondi emphasized that despite his father’s absence, his spirit and commitment to securing Kenya endured. “Though he may no longer be physically present, his legacy lives on in each of us. It is now our duty to carry forward his vision of a safer, more peaceful nation,” Omondi remarked.
